March 2018: Mia Dyson If I Said Only So Far I Take It Back
Out Now
Mia Dyson’s new album “If I Said Only So Far I Take It Back” is out now on Single Lock Records. We made it in Muscle Shoals last year and put our whole selves into it.
People ask me about the title. It means something different to each of us, but in a nutshell for me, it’s that sentiment where you turn to your friends and say, “If I ever said to you that I was only going to only go so far, I take it back, I’m going all the way.”
Pushing through. Forging ahead. But with a sense of possibility and really appreciating what you’re capable of.
You can listen to the album or order the CD, LP or digital files and do all of the things you might hope to do with music in the modern age over at miadyson.com.

Today I’m riding in the back of a van, descending from the Sierras.
We are on tour right now supporting The Psychedelic Furs, who are offering us the kind of respect and support that makes you feel a little more at home on the road. Small things like the crew covering up their gear with drop cloths so we can feel the stage is our own while we play. These are the little courtesies that go a long way out here.
Last night after the show in Lake Tahoe we were rescued from a black ice winter nightmare by an angel with an all-wheel Lexus SUV. Such is the reality of snow country in California.
Back in the van, we spent this morning like we spend many show days -- talking about the show, working out ways to push ourselves to be closer to the band we want to see when we go to shows, deciding what to focus on in soundcheck.
In each of these moments, everything we’ve done to this point comes to bear. Every other band we’ve played in or still play in, every other relationship, every piece of self-knowledge or discovery.
We try to ease the way for each other, to see the path which might be obscured. To look ahead. To come home at the end of the tour and tell our families we took it all the way.
